Aquamarine is a member of the Beryl family (most well known for Emerald).

Classified as a Type I gemstone.  This means that gem quality aquamarine usually has no eye-visible inclusions.

Ideal color is a vivid greenish blue (as pictured to the right).  Most of what you see commercially is pale ice-blue.

It is said to calm dispute and promote happy marriages.

Mined in Brazil, Africa, and some areas of Colorado.

Can be cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner and has a better durability and a more even body color than Emerald.
